I graduated with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Gannon University in 2011. Over the course of my career, I have worked in a wide range of physical therapy settings alongside exceptionally skilled clinicians, which has helped me develop a distinctive approach to biomechanical movement dysfunction and manual therapy. I am certified in functional dry needling and osteopractic spinal manipulation (SMT 1) by the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy and have training in Functional Manual Therapy through the Institute of Physical Arts.
I bring a unique approach to healing by combining my background in manual therapy and functional movement to treat patients holistically. I focus on the whole person—the entire body system and how it moves together—rather than just addressing symptoms. Outside of work, I love spending time at home with my wife, son, and our two dogs, Chloe and Theo. My "happy place" is working on house and yard projects, and if my TV is on, it's usually either football or The Office. My passion is helping people feel better, educating them on how to move better, and hopefully making them laugh along the way.
If you ask any physical therapist why they chose this profession, the common answer is a desire to help people. However, with over 13 years of experience, I found it increasingly difficult to do so in high-volume settings where managers, profits, and insurance companies dictated care. In these environments, high-quality care is often advertised, but difficult to achieve. Patients often see little progress toward their goals, while PTs are made to juggle multiple patients to maximize billing, and provide care under strict time and treatment limitations. This leads to complacency within the physical therapy field and clinician burnout. I realized that advocating for the patient, myself, and the profession was met with indifference. My frustration with this flawed approach to rehabilitative care and wellness ultimately led me to create my own LLC, where I can truly apply my skill set to "do PT better."
Like so many challenges in life whether they be personal, physical, mental, emotional, or professional, if you never stop the grind to be better then "no matter the journey, it can only be EPIC."
I created EPIC because I wanted something different from the current model of physical therapy. I knew that physical therapy could be better, and it could do more for our patients. EPIC is not your typical PT clinic. When you come here, you’ll receive one-on-one care for the entirety of your rehabilitation program directly from me, Dr. Allison Trelka, PT, DPT. There’s no appointment overlap, no sharing between clinicians, and no physical therapist assistants. The focus is on getting you back to doing exactly what you want to do—without the constraints of billing, insurance, or large company restrictions.
Each session combines manual therapy to restore tissue healing and promote mobility, followed by functional movement training that’s specific to your goals. I believe strongly in accountability: if you’re ready to move and feel better, I’m ready to help you get there.
Together, we’ll identify what’s driving your pain, figure out how to correct it, and teach you how to move with purpose and intent. Your personal goals for recovery drive the direction of our work together. I always tell my patients: “I don’t fix you, you fix you—I’m just the tool that helps you get there.
